House Bills

HB15-1273 School Discipline Reporting
Improves reporting by schools, police, and district attorneys of referrals to law enforcement on school property and school activities. Adds sexual assault and marijuana use. 

HB15-1072 Harassment Through An Interactive Medium
Makes changes to the harassment statute to include cyber bullying.

HB15-1094 Concerning Restorative Justice
Expands restorative justice pilot program and extends RJ practices to additional youth. Restorative Justice has been proven to reduce recidivism dramatically.


HB15-1337 Stability of Placement of Children and Sibling Groups in Foster Care
Elevates importance of reducing the number of moves for children in dependency and neglect system.

HB15-1282 Crimes of Deception & Lying in Birth Certificates
Makes birth parents' intentional false material information regarding his or her own personal data on an original birth certificate a misdemeanor. 

HB15-1355 Family History Access Birth & Personal Records
Helping adult adoptees gain access to their birth and family records. 

HB15-1298 Warn Pregnant Women of Marijuana Risks (Died)
Would require marijuana centers to post signs warning of the potential birth defects when marijuana is ingested while pregnant. 

HB15-1025 Competency to Proceed Juveniles Involved in Juvenile Justice System (Died in House)
Establishes a juvenile-specific definition of "incompetent to proceed" for youth involved in the juvenile justice system and defining other mental capacity terms when used in this context.

HB15-1097 Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (Died)
Extends the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders commission until 2020 and gives it a more independent structure

SB15-020 Education to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse & Assault (Erin's Law)
Uses School Safety Resource Center as repository/resource for training and materials for schools about prevention and response of child abuse and assault. Allows educators to use the curriculum for continuing education credits.

SB15-087 Safe Placement of Children in Foster Care Homes
Standardizes & improves current background check processes for placing a child in a safe foster home. 

SB15-204 Office of Child Protection Ombudsman
Moves the office away from State Department of Human Services to the Judicial branch to allow for more independence in conducting investigations and making recommendations of the Child Protection system.

SB15-131 Fostering Success Collaborative (Died)
A collaboration to streamline helping youth from foster care receive a higher education. (2% of youth in foster care graduate from college, yet 78% want to)
